The Crossroads border is wrong - it only extends to the eastern side of Broadway.

Kansas City moved to Kanssas City, KANSAS! It hosts the Rivalry between Kansas and Missouri the Border Showdown which Missouri won in 2007!
  • Pembroke Hill School, Local Boy (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
what william sez may well be true. Originally this school was Pembroke Country Day school...called "pem-day" by locals..and was for (well-heeled) boys only. Later it merged with the school for (well-heeled) girls..Sunset Hill- so now you have a co-ed school called Pembroke Hill! Some of Kansas Citys finest have come from these schools, so it DOES matter where you get your education!
  • Site of Bannister Mall, Local Boy (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
opened in the mid 1970s..this mall did fine until about 1990...when they opened a super Walmart across the street! Local demographics killed the mall really..the area continues to be in a slow but steady decline..many closed stores in that area. It seems that the metro KC can only support 2 major indoor malls..and those would be Independence Center out east, and Oak Park Mall over in KS.
  • Truman Sports Complex, Local Boy (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
paid for by the citizens of Jackson County MO, as designed it was supposed to have a sliding "roof" that could cover either the chiefs or the royals stadium but the cost was considered to be too high so they deleted that feature. Very nice stadiums indeed, and both are currently being upgraded! Now..if only the teams would win a few games.....Arrowhead is used for rock concerts and other events when football is not played. Named for Kansas Citys own...President Harry S Truman..one of our finest presidents!
  • Second Hannibal Bridge, baboon (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
this is not the same bridge that opened in 1869. the first bridge was located about 200 feet east of this one. This is the SECOND HANNIBAL BRIDGE and it was built in 1917.
  • 8th Street Tunnel, baboon (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
This tunnel was found in 2003 after being lost for more than 42 years. Kansas City Missouri knew it was there, they just could not find it. Luckly, it was found, and is being preserved.

  • Martin City, diablo scott (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
well all good Kansas City area residents know that Martin City is not a "city" per se, but rather a village within the KC city limits. Located there is the famous Jess and Jims Steakhouse, and the also famous Smokestack BBQ.
  • Longview Lake, diablo scott (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
yet another fine Missouri Reservoir..built for flood control and recreation. Named after the Long family of the famous "Longview Farm" nearby. The lake has a marina and every Christmas season has a nice lights display that you drive thru.
  • Swope Park, diablo scott (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Colonel Thomas Swope was kind enough to give the city of Kansas City a huge tract of land which later became Swope Park..one of the largest metro parks in the USA. At that time some thought the park was "too far out in the country" but it sure isnt now..is it? Kansas City was and is lucky to have such civic minded citizens as Colonel Swope. Swope Park is also the home of the famous Starlight Theater.
